UPDATE! Cooler Expansion Project
Oregon Food Bank is nearing the end of the active phase of the Cooler Expansion project at the NE Portland Warehouse. It has been an exciting project to watch as it goes through all the phases.
Frozen Product: In the first week of June (June 2- June 8) the new Freezer will be dropping temperature from 68° slooooowwwwwly down to negative 10°. Once the Freezer safely gets to the correct temperature we will start stocking it with frozen products. Partner Agencies can expect to see frozen items begin to be available for ordering by June 10th. The variety of frozen products available will be kept low as OFB staff acclimate to the new space and as we bring in product that has been stored off-site.
Cooler Product: We are currently operating in the new, larger cooler space however the pallet racking system has yet to be installed, limiting the usable storage space. Until the racking is fully installed, Partners will see slightly lower availability of produce and other cooler items. We anticipate that after Juneteenth (June 19th) the availability and volume of cooler items will be back to normal levels.
THANK YOU
- To Agencies that pick up at the Metro Dock, for your flexibility with the tight space due to the temporary Freezer Containers,
- To ALL Agencies for your patience with the limited availability of Frozen products,
- To OFB Warehouse Staff and ALL Agencies, who have had to change plans and pivot every week to accommodate the construction project.
