Hot weather & food safety
Today's temperatures may hit 115°F today and the low 90s for the remainder of the week & weekend. Please take these extra food safety precautions.
With this week's extreme high temperatures, it is crucial that you take extra care to avoid time & temperature abuse of potentially hazardous foods:
- Refrigerators and freezers will be working extra hard to maintain their temperatures. During the heatwave, check and log your refrigerator and freezer temperatures multiple times per day.
- In these high temperatures, Temperature Control for Safety (TCS) foods such as dairy products and cut produce will spoil quickly if not kept refrigerated. Avoid holding TCS foods outside of active refrigeration for any amount of time. If TCS food must be removed from refrigeration, you must take and log sample temperatures every 15 minutes, using this form, and discard any product that reads above 41°F.
