UPDATE 2: Fresh Alliance Chicken Products
As you may be aware, there is an ongoing recall of 10 million pounds of cooked chicken products manufactured by BrucePac due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Because BrucePac sells to other food manufacturers who use them in their own products, the recalled products have many different brand labels. The list of impacted products includes both heat-and-eat and ready-to-eat foods, including a wide variety of premade salads.
At this time we are advising our partners to discard any ready-to-eat products containing chicken received through Fresh Alliance or perishable salvage until the recall has been resolved. Because the recall continues to expand, and ready-to-eat products are the most likely to cause illness from listeria, we want to be sure that any potential source of foodborne illness has been removed from distribution.
Attached is a PDF with a list and pictures of all of the products that have been impacted so far -- however, since the product list is continuing to expand, we recommend that you treat all RTE chicken products as if they are impacted.
REGIONAL FOOD BANKS: Please cascade this information to all agencies that participate in Fresh Alliance or perishable salvage.
