I'm tapping our CEO for this week's inspirational message. Click Susannah's video below! Thank you for your commitment to health, safety and ending hunger! Your Regional Network Team,
|

- You may have heard the news that Oregon Food Bank has signed a contract with the state of Oregon to spend $8 million on food for the state over the next 8 weeks! (Divided among the 20 Oregon-based Regional Food Banks, of which Metro and West are each one branch.) This will help sustain our food supply until additional food from the USDA starts coming in July. Click the video of Susannah to hear her message around this partnership and what's next. (Note the ask at the end is intended for donors - you are contributing more than we could ever ask for!)
- We are seeking multiple strategies to get food into the hands of clients. Our sourcing teams are working relentlessly to find food in a tight market. We know there may be gaps as we work to bring in more food, but please know that we are doing all we can to get more food to our partners and our clients.
- As the restaurant industry has significantly reduced their purchasing during the pandemic, more donations from restaurant suppliers have been coming in, which means more commercially packaged items. Please prepare your teams and your clients for larger sized packaging options in the coming weeks. Consider packing larger sized boxes for bigger families - include number 10 cans and larger packaged items.

Here Together & EmergeStronger Listening Session |

It may be hard to believe, but there's an election coming up next month!
You all see the direct impact of homelessness in our community and know funding is critical.
Oregon Food Bank endorses Measure 26-210 to support homeless services in the Metro area. A few facts about this measure:
- Homeless was a crisis before COVID-19; 5,000-12,000 people are sleeping outside or in shelters every night; Oregon ranks #1 in the nation for unsheltered families with children
- This funding will serve those at extreme risk of experiencing homelessness, including our most vulnerable populations: people of color, seniors, children, women escaping domestic violence, people with disabilities, people from the LGBTQIA+ community, and veterans.
- 26-210 will raise an estimated $250 million dollars through a tax increase of 1% of single earners making $125,000 and above a year, joint filers making $200,000 and above and businesses, making over $5,000,000 a year in revenue.
