Peanut Butter Recall - updated with new affected products
UPDATE: J.M. Smucker Co.’s voluntary recall of select Jif products in the United States has prompted more manufacturers and retailers to voluntarily recall additional Jif products due to the potential presence of Salmonella contamination.
Please read the releases below from Albertsons/Safeway, Del Monte and Mary's Harvest Fresh Foods and two candy companies. Some of the newly recalled products include fresh cut produce with cups of peanut butter and candy. Photos of recalled products are included in each recall release.
- ALBERTSONS COMPANIES PRODUCTS
- MARY'S HARVEST FRESH FOODS
- FRESH DEL MONTE
- FUDGEAMENTALS (candy)
- COBLENTZ CHOCOLATE CO. (candy)
Please check all Jif products in your inventory for affected lot codes (see photo and full recall release below). Note that not all affected products will say Jif on the label (ie the fruit cups) - see each recall notice for more details. While these foods have not been distributed directly from Oregon Food Bank, you may have encountered them through Fresh Alliance donations, food drives, OHA food boxes, or other donation sources.
Below you will find posters to hang or print for clients instructing them on what to look for if they received Jif products from your site or a grocery store.

Just in case you're not checking the recall page daily, we wanted to highlight a recent recall that wasn't distributed by OFB directly (outside of food drive maybe) but is a pretty common item that you might have received through your own donation streams: Jif® peanut butter products sold in the U.S. due to potential Salmonella contamination.
The recalled peanut butter was distributed nationwide in retail stores and other outlets. Recalled products include the products below with lot codes 1274425 – 2140425. Lot codes are included alongside best-if-used-by date.

Please check out the full announcement on the Recalls page and make sure you are checking this page regularly and cross-referencing your inventory. This product may have come to you via Fresh Alliance donations or other individual donors.
Additionally - food boxes from Oregon Health Authority distributed this spring contain Jif Peanut Butter. Please read this statement if your site received food boxes from OHA. These boxes DID NOT come via Oregon Food Bank, but you may have partnered with OHA to receive boxes.
