ANTICIPATED FOOD & PRODUCE LOADS - WEEK OF 3/23
Please remember these are expected truckloads coming to the OFB warehouse this week. Reminder: It will take a few days for items to appear in inventory depending on when the loads are received into the warehouse. Food is first received into the Statewide warehouse and then must be transformed/moved to the Metro and West warehouses, including a delivery to West. These are estimates on what you can likely expect to see in the coming days/weeks, not when you will see them. Please reach out to the Metro Team (MWCS@oregonfoodbank.org) with questions, not the Operations Team. Thank you!

Greetings friends!
Spring is here and with it we’re seeing warmer than usual temperatures around the PNW and record-breaking highs throughout parts of California and the desert Southwest. If these warm temperatures continue, we may start seeing some NW crops come on early and some California crops gap due to heat pressure. All that said, we are looking very good for variety and volume this week.
We have a few special loads I’d like to call out. One is a sneaker load of Driscoll’s strawberries we brought in today, Monday, 3/23. The quality is unusually great and the color of the fruit is very high. We are offering half pallet quantities to the Portland Metro area and full pallets to statewide RFB’s. Fingers crossed we’ll see more of these loads become available bringing some much needed joy to the network.
We also have an organic mixed citrus load coming in from our friends in Reedley, CA. We rarely get Cara Cara Navels and Blood Oranges so I hope those of you who receive these can share how special they are. Cara Cara’s have orange skin, pink flesh and have a slightly more floral flavor than a typical orange Navel aka the Washington Navel. Depending on what variety of Blood Oranges we receive they could have orange or dark red skin and red or orange flesh. They are sweet and quite floral in flavor.
